not so coincidentally, support for the various forms of anti capitalism and communism has been on the rise too.
Don’t get me wrong, this is a very bad development and it really threatens democracies. But the truth is that wealth inequality is even worse in dictatorships like China or Russia, and it has been widening at an even faster pace than in Canada, Europe and their democratic allies.
In China they still care a lot about the bottom most people. Also if a billionaire starts acting uppity and wants more control over govenment they can be executed or disappeared.
And those things I agree SHOULD be doable to the richest but not everyone. The reason why dipshits like Jack Ma (founder of alibaba/aliexpress) were able to amass that kind of wealth was due to the Chinese government. The moment they allow them to forget that is the moment China will be fucked.
No they don’t. You should see rural China, the parts your handlers don’t show you.

…And this is a good thing? You know the same happens to people who criticize Winnie? Every bad news over there is censored, so acting like the CCP model is good is laughable.
Blablabla but China blablablabla
Dude, what’s with you and hating china? Can you fucking chill about it already
For the unfamiliar, Sepia/Scotty/randomname/Hotznplotzn/etc are multiple sockpuppet accounts likely by the same person that spams China-bad concern trolling trolling with regular frequency. Check their post histories from the link.
I don’t hate China. This is a simple fact. Just read the statistics.
I don’t understand why so many people appear to freak out if you criticize China. It seems one can criticize everyone and everything back and forth, but if you are criticizing China you are at least whatabouted to death.
Starts with “whatabout China?” Gets called out. Replies with “stop whatabouting me!”
Worst sock puppet ever lol

Provide “the” statistics… As if it’s that simple, sure there’s one source we are all going to trust. Also as a country that’s appreciated wealth in the last 30 years at a staggering rate, all the numbers are going to be relatively bigger.
I agree that china has loads it could be doing better, but you harp on this shit in every discussion, meanwhile the usa is actively and openly threatening canadians. To me it reads like your the one what-about-china-ing every fucking discussion.
you are criticizing China you are at least whatabouted to death.
Nobody whatabouted you at all in this discussion you just brought it up out of nowhere, and provided no means to validate it.
No one is freaking out about it. The problem is that your comment doesn’t make any sense. Invoking China is a non-sequitur. Like, sir this is a Wendy’s.
Late stage capitalism, I did not like that term but since the beginning of last year I started to understand it and read up on the topic. We need to jump into socialism faster!
We printed 40% more money supply during Covid debasing peoples salaries.
We did mass immigration into an existing housing shortage as corporations lobbied for cheap labor, to depress wages after we had inflation from the aforementioned money printing.
We now buy half of all mortgage bonds to make borrowing cheaper to further drive up asset prices, as Carney just announced he is buying up unsold condos in Ontario at an inflated price using borrowed public money.
So did capitalism do any of this, or do we keep voting in corrupt governments who continue debasing peoples salaries, enriching those holding inflation resistant assets like real estate and equities?
Welcome to waking life! 🎉
I have been pro socialism for most of my life, even before I knew what it was. I was born and raised in Saskatchewan, an area that relies on socialism even if the majority of the population lean to the right.
Careful not to get too attached to the “late stage part.” Odds are the system will burn everything to the ground and save itself a la WWI/II.
Amen. A few of us been developing understanding over the last little while. Some might say develiping … class consciousness.
I was listening to a lecture on meritocracy and how it lead to higher disparities than pre-desegregation black-white divide. The lecturer made the point that there are very few peaceful examples for unwinding the level of inequality that exists today - like the post-Great Depression US under FDR.
