“All this does is force an already burdened PSC to waste time and ratepayer dollars analyzing a make-believe world where all our electricity comes from a single source, in order to mislead ratepayers about affordable, quickly-deployed renewable energy.”
Actually making renewables cheap means mixing different sources; wind, water, hydro, geothermal where available, and multiple locations, along with storage. That way, the big gaps in supply are small, and you don’t need nearly so much storage. Single-sourcing electricity sharply drives up storage costs.
