Just a short ride, first ride of spring. Nothing crazy. Did have to go a little bit into the river at some points. Good times.

And my $200 Walmart bike enters its second year of service flawlessly – literally just pulled it out of storage and hopped right onto it, no issues to fix. (Tires were a bit low, but that’s kind of a good thing for off-road biking.)

Those tires will have tubes, so fill them up before you get a snake bite (pinch flat).

I’m jealous! I had a series of surgeries over the past couple months, and I can’t wear a helmet right now. It’s keeping me off my dirtbike and off my bike until mid April, so this warm spell is killing me

        You jinxed me, man…

Went out for a longer ride the next day, and even filled up the tires first to make sure it wouldn’t happen … and guess what, the first pinch flat of my life.

          The cycling gods have spoken.

I was on a group ride with our club yesterday, and the ride leader (also the president of the club) announced he may not be able to wait for someone with a flat tire or other issue, as he had something he had to get to after the ride ended. “It’s not necessarily a no-drop ride,” he said, which is unusual in our group - almost all of our rides are no-drop (or, as I think of them, “regroup regularly”), the ones that aren’t are well marked on the calendar.

Guess who got the flat tire, and got left behind because only one other person even knew there was an issue, and had to call his wife for pickup because he couldn’t get the tire off?

(We realized they were missing at a later intersection and called him, that’s when we found out what happened. We did wait for the other guy that tried to help him; he finished the ride with us.)

Don’t worry, they’re not that low … I think. Anyway, I didn’t have any issues so far. But yeah, I’d probably fill them up before going on a longer, more intense ride.

Yeah, that sucks. Plenty more heat coming after April, though, I’m sure.
