“I’d much rather stumble around in English than witness whatever the fuck you’re about to do to my mother tongue” - the French
But yes, a simple “Parlez vous anglais?” puts most conversations firmly in friendly territory. It’s entitlement that puts most people off.

Nope, it’s the nature of hierarchies and gaps in human perception that happen to line up, not our intrinsic nature. We can build something more than this, it’s just slightly harder to do.

0·6 days ago“Don’t Create the Torment Nexus” was a strange mirror held up to society to show the inherent flaws in the system. By building the torment nexus, those who did so didn’t fail to understand the metaphor. They just run society like that already, so why wouldn’t they do it?

0·11 days agoLawsuit here will confirm that voting is a states issue, not a federal one. You don’t need the judiciary to enforce, just confirm. The states already do the enforcement. So, unlike other cases where the judge is basically powerless to enforce, that’s definitely not going to be the case here.

Programming@programming.dev•Your Engineers Aren't Lazy, Your Codebase Is Punishing Them
0·13 days agoWhen developing code for first release, we had a dedicated HIP Sprint (Hardening, Innovation, Planning) and we had the most productive team in the company. Other teams were struggling cause they were just using the HIP as another Sprint. So what did we do? Got rid of the HIP, naturally. You see, some teams weren’t using it and it’s unfair to those teams that we’re not doing work when they are. Now everyone’s suffering!
Also had legitimate agile practices (budgets are for HR, work on what you need to work on and let someone else worry about paying for it) and we were the most productive team in the company. So, naturally, they need to get a bunch of C-suite guys to come over and run things cause it would be really embarrassing for them if they weren’t involved in the new hotness. Naturally, though, we gotta go back to funding buckets, cause those c-suite guys don’t understand why they got to talk to the developers when they want something fixed instead of handing things down from on high. Oh no! Suddenly all these issues are popping up in the workflow, guess we gotta force in ai to fix the problems.
EU’s stated reason for abstaining is
1, use of superlatives
2, bias in presentation, against UN charter
3, they’re against reparations
I dunno man, it really just smells like they don’t want to pay up for their crimes against humanity. When your first two points are nit picking and your last one is “and we were told we wouldn’t have to answer for shitty things before we made rules about it”, it’s kinda giving away why you’re against it.
Explain?

0·4 months agoNot gonna lie, the master branch thing has been perceived as problematic but I don’t typically see an issue with it. It’s similar to master bedroom or bath.
Kind of fucked up name origin, butI don’t think anyone’s really making a fuss about it.Whatever the fuck you’re doing though feels like some gross, racist fantasy. It’s really weird, dude. If you think that’s funny you might need to go talk to some real people or touch grass.
