I thought “we” might be inclusive of a dog
Alt text is in the square brackets, then put the image link in parentheses

I’m not well-versed in stereotypes for many European countries; which is which?
So he thought it was a lawn show?

Apple@lemmy.world•Apple Confirms Mac Pro Is Dead, No Future Models Planned
0·3 days agoYes, and the pros who use these for audio and video production were historically using a lot of specialty cards on PCIe but the impression I had was the support wasn’t great for the M-series Mac Pros, that the chips didn’t have good support for it because that was the only model using it

Apple@lemmy.world•Apple Confirms Mac Pro Is Dead, No Future Models Planned
0·4 days agoNot much point for it anymore with the way Apple silicon works. Not putting in graphics cards, it doesn’t really use PCIe, RAM is on the chip. Internal storage drives seem like the only real benefit anymore and that’s probably not worth the cost.
My elementary school PE did a couple weeks every year where we did square dancing and line dancing. I guess that’s the southeastern US coming in. Sometimes we did some other more traditional English dance where the boys and girls would be in rows facing each other where there were some set steps and then the couple at one end would dance down between the lines to the other end, there would be more steps and then the next couple would move, and so on. It was like something out of a Jane Austen movie.

Videos@lemmy.world•Air Canada Express flight AC8646 CRJ-900 at LaGuardia crash footage
0·7 days agoI don’t think it even registered at first for the truck that they were being told to stop because he’d just told the Frontier plane to stop
Footage is from the MESSENGER spacecraft as it did an Earth flyby in 2005 on its way to Mercury.

Technology@lemmy.ml•This Infamous Radioactive 'Tomb' Is Leaking, And Experts Are Worried
0·8 days agoA gaping hole was left on a small island in the Pacific Ocean when the United States military released an 18-kiloton nuclear blast in 1958, known as the ‘Cactus’ test.
After the blast took place on the Marshall Island’s Runit Island, the military filled it in with contaminated soil and debris, creating a ‘tomb’ of nuclear waste known now as the Runit Dome.
The 115-meter (377 feet)-wide dome, built between 1977 and 1980 as part of military cleanup efforts, rests above more than 120,000 tons of material that were contaminated by US nuclear testing across Enewetak Atoll, including lethal quantities of plutonium.
The dome was intended as a temporary solution to contain material left behind by the nuclear tests, some of which exceeded the magnitude of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 1,000 times over.
Sounds like it’s time for a more long-term response

0·10 days agoI tried for like an hour this morning, kept clicking the checkout button and it would just reload the page. One time I got to the page to enter shipping details but after that got a message saying it was no longer in stock.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are there any story ripoffs that are actually good?
0·10 days agoWe talking, like, O Brother, Where Art Thou? being based on Homer’s Odyssey?
It usually doesn’t need to be perfect, good enough is often good enough and can be a lot faster where trying for perfection might not get finished in time.
Years after the fact I could make the lead developer’s eye twitch just by mentioning the guy who was supposed to maintain the backups but we discovered after the fire that he actually hadn’t been doing it. That guy was fired, but it didn’t bring back the lost code.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do most comedians invite heclers to their shows? And they go over the bit so it seems sporadic? And get them more views or clicks or whatever? Kind of like a magician does with a plant?
0·11 days agoAdding to this, if someone gets a reputation for sparring with hecklers, more hecklers are likely to show up and take their shot. Releasing videos of yourself taking on hecklers is probably going to encourage them.

Technology@lemmy.world•Meta will shut down VR Horizon Worlds access in JuneEnglish
1·12 days agoReading the article, Horizon Worlds is not shutting down, just the VR access. Apparently they’ve moved it to apps you access on iPhone and Android. I see the appeal even less; that seems like Second Life mobile.
I remember similar guidelines being taught when I was in driver’s ed in the US, but I don’t know if there were strict laws around it. If there are laws I would guess it is a state-by-state thing.

There doesn’t seem to be much activity around pinball on Lemmy. Maybe you could post this to !Pinball@lemmy.lqx.net or !pinball@lemmy.world ?
