Or they can communicate just fine but stand on a pile of assumptions about the other person that aren’t true so they just keep talking past each other.
That is not communicating very well.

The military has had over 4 years of watching Iranian drones wreak havoc in Ukraine, yet seem to be caught with their pants down by … Iranian drones. I’ll agree that the US military is effective in big, blow-up-a-bunch-of-shit, but when looking at how much they spend, the returns on investment are just shameful. I’ll also give you that civilian leadership is incompetent, but that same leadership has been gutting military leadership for a decade. Just a waste.

I would expect that it wasn’t a nuke, and I would wonder what blew up.

While not knowing what you liked about Project Hail Mary, it’s hard to suggest anything more than what has already been mentioned. A much darker look at space and aliens would be Stephen R. Donaldson’s Gap Cycle. I would like to second a vote for A Deepness in the Sky.

How would Venezuelan tankers help Putin?

Just like the Ukraine invasion showed Russia to not be what everyone thought they were, this Iran debacle is showing how incompetent the US military is, in addition to being a historic waste of taxpayer dollars.

Don’t you follow and obey Orange Jesus?

I’d guess because the AG put laws and country over party. Unlike the US GOP.

A friend works for the Department of Defense in Japan and told me a couple of weeks ago that a lot of military folks were already being shipped out.
Sounds like everything, if you’re leaning nihilist.

There were a couple tables at my high school that were abused similarly. Most of us just used an apple because we weren’t savages.

I wish there were a setting to block links from specific sources. I have a decent keyword filter that blocks posts with keywords in the title, but not in the link. It’s so annoying coming across these nypost links. Nice Public Enemy link.

I agree. It’s one of those nerd pedantic facts that people throw out.

Captain Christopher Pike was played by Jeffery Hunter in the first Star Trek series, but was only in the pilot or something before Shatner took the reins. If you were sincerely asking.
That’s the common Ricky Gervais answer. I find it easier to just say “No.” If they want to take it further, I walk away.

The chuckle fucks in the White House don’t even pretend to give a shit about people anymore.
President Trump’s Director of the National Economic Council of the United States Kevin Hassett is being criticized for saying if the war against Iran were to be extended that “it wouldn’t really disrupt the US economy very much at all.”
Hassett added that a longer war “would hurt consumers, and we’d have to think about, you know, if that continued, what we’d have to do about that, but that’s really the last of our concerns right now because we’re very confident that this thing is going ahead of schedule.”

I agree most of the time, but there is at least one notable exception.

Yep, not dealing with a cult of personality these days. That’s for sure.

We’ve had a long history of problems tied to the cult of personality.
