Wouldn’t “the” and “this” become ðe and ðis?
I don’t know all the linguistic terminology, but I remember thorn being pronounced as in the word itself, while adding a sting changed it’s pronunciation to be like “then”

The Mike Tyson letter
þ =th in Anglo-Saxon Runic alphabet
Edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thorn_(letter)?wprov=sfla1
Relax, it’s a prank bro!
In case you’re not terminally online enough to be aware of the Lemmy DiscourseTM, one user has been persistently using the thorn in otherwise ordinary (or even high quality) comments and it’s made a lot of people very unhappy. This has been enough of a thing that piefed had an instance-optional filter to convert þ->th for a while, though it’s been removed since then.
I think most of the negative reaction to your post is people upset about the thorn specifically rather than your post/comment
Oh yeah I know! I just did it to stir the pot. I never even use the thorn, I just think it’s funny watching people retch whenever it’s used.
What is thhis?
Fuck
