  • I am also not talking about all human interactions but specifically sex, which is goal oriented and has a very clear concept of a prize (a reward) if you think in terms of reinforcement learning.

Okay, let me rephrase this again, in light of that wording of your position:

“Do not treat human beings simply as means to achieve a goal, even if the human being is necessary for that goal.”

There is a singular category for Autism Spectrum Disorder but there is no singular category for Fascism-itis.

tbf, there’s increasing discussion of the possibility that what we regard as the autism spectrum is actually several, unrelated diagnoses with some amount of comorbidity.

Obviously this doesn’t change life for people diagnosed as autistic all that much, but it is an interesting reminder that even our medical classifications are constantly refined in an attempt to hew closer to an objective (or at least objectively-based) truth.

  • Interactions with people aren’t prizes, and shouldn’t be conceptualized as such.

“Humans have needs and desires” and “Humans should conceptualize the fulfillment of their needs and desires as separate from the people they interact (and resulting consequences) with to achieve them” are two different things.

Most basic idea, do unto others. People sometimes want to feel wanted, even in just a purely carnal sense; people generally do not want to feel treated like an object, an abstract, or a piece of meat in the process.

That’s why there is such an intense hate campaign against Mangione, despite being no conclusive evidence.

I still can’t believe they’re so damn desperate to convict an innocent man, when the real hero is still on the loose.

He could be you! He could be me! He could even be-

  • Back when NASA was flinging things into space for the first time, the tolerances that were even possible were extremely tight. Every pound mattered (every pound still matters, but because we have other things to do once we get to space nowadays, plus every pound is expensive).

600 pounds of white paint for the fuel tank was considered unnecessary, once the engineering team figured that it didn’t actually protect the special foam covering of the fuel tank anyway. Thus the distinctive orange color!
