I was given some kind of gas once for surgery and I found it hard to breathe. I told the nurses around me that I thought I was having a panic attack and the anesthesiologist chuckled, “It’s okay. I’m giving you something for that.” Then I was out.

Technology@lemmy.world•Meta found liable in child exploitation caseEnglish
1·2 days agoI wish. If that were true, we wouldn’t have nasty-ass fire-safe cigarettes and they wouldn’t cost 15 bucks a pack. I could buy Macanudo cigars for a dollar. I could see Pornhub in Texas without having to sign up for an account. If they think it will protect the children, they’ll wipe Amazon clean off the map.

1·5 days agoFor now. But the US is planning to pass it’s own version of OSA.

2·5 days agoHow does the Fediverse do it better and would that appease the jury in a civil or criminal trial? Those are questions to consider. Perhaps it’s all good. I certainly hope so.

1·5 days agoI don’t think that will save it. I’m barely profitable and cops still give me tickets. Times are changing. Governments are coming down hard on the Internet. OSA in the UK forced Urban Dead to shut down. I would have to think admins running instances are feeling a little nervous.

Technology@lemmy.world•Meta found liable in child exploitation caseEnglish
1·5 days agoI mean the instances. If a kid here in Technology dies, whoever is running this place is on the hook now. And also lemmy.world. I’m still fuzzy about how the Fediverse works, but a scapegoat will be found. This is running on somebody’s computer.
But also any type of social media in general. We’re heading towards any place where people can talk to each other online will be illegal in order to protect the children.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Human experimentation, one way or the other.
0·11 days agoNo one “seriously lectured you” on that.
Not on that but something similar. It’s called an analogy.

0·11 days agoI suppose if you simply label all the people who interpret your comment a certain way as “bots”
It’s not just a label. It’s a logical conclusion. If I’m talking to my neighbor and I make a joke about how eating cookies will make them explode and they begin to seriously lecture me about how there is no evidence that cookies make people explode and accuse me of lying, I’m going to assume there is something mentally wrong with them. Any rational person would assume that. It’s like a Twilight Zone episode. On the Internet, if two or more people are exhibiting the same symptoms, they’re probably bots.
Fuck right the hell off with your trolling and your attempts to spread doubt.
Dang. I feel like I’m in an I Think You Should leave skit.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Human experimentation, one way or the other.
0·11 days agoThat was absolutely not the impression anyone would get from reading your initial comment.
They do. Most people are not as irrational and simple as you are.
Lol that’s not how that works.
Yes. It is. If you pretend to be a Nazi and spread Nazi propaganda, you are a Nazi. That’s what Mother Night is all about. But I actually got the vaccine because like most people, I didn’t want to get covid. It sounds unpleasant. And if you don’t want covid, get the vaccine.
You’re actively sowing confusion and doubt and attacking people for being pro-vaccine
You keep insisting this but it’s not true. No one except you and the bots are getting confused about this. Rational humans will never believe that vaccines will make them explode.
I mind the other part, the part where you’re discouraging people from getting vaccinated.
I’m not doing that. That’s all in your head, pal.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Human experimentation, one way or the other.
0·11 days agoYes, I’m sure bashing everyone else who got the vaccine as a brainwashed hypocrite who’s just following trends
I’m not though because the vast majority of people are not political hobbyists and they, like me, did not get the vaccine because it was fashionable. They got it because it was reasonable.
Come on, you know as well as I do that none of your comments from the very beginning have been about encouraging anyone to get vaccinated.
This is not true. But if you insist on believing it, take comfort from the lessons of Kurt Vonnegut’s Mother Night. Even if I’m pretending to encourage people to get vaccinated, it is still encouraging people to get vaccinated. You are who you pretend to be.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Human experimentation, one way or the other.
0·11 days agoNobody was thinking straight during the Covid Panic. I got the vaccine because I’m the type of person it likes to kill.
But it surprised me that the crowd that are terrified of Forever Chemcalz, atomz, BPA, microplastics and frequently scream “Regulations are written in blood!” were chomping at the bit to force everyone to get injected with a product from Big Pharma that was fast tracked and bypassed all normal regulations to get to market as soon as possible by the executive orders of a billionaire president they despised.
Meanwhile, the MAGA crowd were booing Trump at his rallies when he told them to go out and get vaccinated.
The whole world had gone cross-eyed.
Edit:
If any humans happen into this thread, take a look at these bots below replying, upvoting, downvoting. It’s shocking. It’s like There Will Come Soft Rains in reverse.
They have no idea what I’m saying. I made a joke about the possibility that vaccines could cause people to explode and they’re taking it at face value. Spitting out the same messages over and over “it’s safe and effective” and “You’re spreading misinformation” and demanding I provide evidence that vaccines cause people to explode and seriously explaining that vaccines do not cause people to explode. Wow.
Maybe the world didn’t go cross-eyed. It was the bots.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•School speed limits shouldn't existEnglish
0·2 months agoYou know, I was about to say that we should go back to no school zones like in the 80s since the speed limit was always just 30 around school zones anyway and people had to slow anyway when school let out because of all the traffic.
And I was wondering why school zones were created in the first place since there was no problem to fix. But now I remember that schools were once always in residential areas. But with school zones today, they can stick them on airport runways if they want to.

Every generation is like this at that age. The hallmark of my generation, GenX, was apathy. Not that I care. Whatever. Never mind.
